1855 Club (Founder’s Room) Renovation
Pennsylvania State University | State College , Pennsylvania
The Pennsylvania State University commissioned OSPORTS to provide professional services for the complete renovation of The Founder’s Room at Bryce Jordan Center (BJC), based on the feasibility and concept study conducted by OSPORTS in 2022. This project aimed to enhance and modernize the existing room to accommodate various events while improving its aesthetics and functionality, transforming it into a modern, multifunctional space within the Bryce Jordan Center.
The renovation included expanding the existing curtain wall facade and adding a new semi-private patio element to the Founder’s Room. Key components of the renovation focused on improving the layout and versatility of the space, upgrading lighting, flooring, ceilings, and wall coverings to elevate the overall experience within the Bryce Jordan Center and enable year-round use. On the mezzanine level, interior enhancements involved adding two storage rooms and an AV closet, installing new flooring (a mix of hard surface and carpet), implementing new ceilings and lighting throughout, and opening up the space by removing existing concession area walls and relocating the main entry to the side through the existing coat closet.
Externally, the project included demolishing the existing curtain wall facade and replacing it with a new curtain wall expansion, along with the installation of a patio element featuring a lighted trellis, planters, a screen wall, and patio furniture. These upgrades modernize the Founder’s Room, offering enhanced functionality and aesthetics for a variety of events held at the Bryce Jordan Center.
