Don and Sue Schaly Field | OSPORTS provided Architectural and Civil engineering design services for the Don and Sue Schaly Baseball Stadium Improvements project for Marietta College. The scope of work included a full removal of existing natural grass and design of a new drainage system, as well as a new tension net backstop system, dugouts (with restrooms), bullpens, perimeter fencing, walls, ADA sitting areas and picnic areas. OSPORTS also provided master planning services for the ballpark to evaluate the future buildout of a combined team clubhouse and indoor hitting facility for Marietta College’s Etta Express, the 6-time NCAA Division III Baseball National Champions.
 
The project site, situated less than a mile from the banks of the Ohio River and within the 100-year floodplain, presented unique challenges for design and permitting. The OSPORTS + Osborn team finalized floodplain development permits with local floodplain administration and finalized storm water design to City and State requirements to keep the project ahead of schedule. The field’s stone base was designed to act as a detention system, utilizing pipe storage and voids in the stone base to meet the 25-year minimum design storm requirement. The field drainage system was fitted with valves and air release points to protect the field underdrainage system in the event of a 100 year flood event.
 
Don Drumm Stadium & Marietta Field | OSPORTS provided Civil engineering design services for the Don Drumm Field Replacement and new synthetic turf soccer and lacrosse field for Marietta College. The existing synthetic turf playing surface at Don Drumm Stadium was replaced with a new FieldTurf system, while the scope of work at the soccer and lacrosse field included a full removal of existing natural grass and design of a new drainage system for a multipurpose field. The field’s stone base was designed to act as a detention system, utilizing pipe storage and voids in the stone base to meet the 25-year minimum design storm requirement. The field drainage system was also fitted with valves and air release points to protect the field underdrainage system in the event of a 100 year flood event.
