Athletic Facilities Master Plan

OSPORTS provided sports architecture and planning for the comprehensive Athletic Facilities Master Plan (AFMP) for Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina. The AFMP will guide the development of the NCAA Division II Crusaders outdoor and indoor athletic facilities over the coming years.
 
The scope of work/goals for the outdoor athletic master plan (part 1) includes:
• New multi-purpose stadium with grandstands, press box, 8-lane track and artificial turf to accommodate soccer, lacrosse, field hockey and football (future)
• New team center for outdoor sports teams and central support building to the stadium complex
• New entry and event plaza at west end of stadium
• New parking and drop-off areas
• Modify track and field throwing areas to the west of the new stadium complex
• General site improvements and amenities including sports lighting
• New artificial turf for multi-purpose use at Field #1 or #3 for lacrosse/field hockey
• New multi-purpose facility for softball and baseball hitting/pitching and golf
• New event pavilion adjacent to the Tennis Center that includes restrooms, concessions, multi-purpose event room and tennis programming space
• New promenade that connects the existing north parking area with the new stadium and event pavilion
• New cross country course start/finish area for “fan friendly” viewing
 
The scope of work/goals for the indoor athletic master plan (part 2) includes:
• Existing Wheeler Center upgrades, including new roof better lighting and brighter interiors project
• New addition to the main building with a new event lobby and auxiliary gymnasium
• New addition to the Wheeler Center with a wellness center
