MLS’s Philadelphia Union and their Youth Academy programs commissioned OSPORTS to design a new world-class training complex and tournament sportsplex. The sportsplex will include a total of 7 outdoor fields, 4 natural grass and 3 synthetic turf, with one of the grass fields designed as a competition stadium for their home MLS Next Pro matches. The Philadelphia Union and the City of Chester will now be able to host youth sports tournaments and attract more and more people to the Chester waterfront on a regular basis, not just MLS match days. In addition to the expanded field complex a new full-size indoor field will be constructed at the facility. This indoor training field will allow the Union to practice indoors during inclement weather and to host a multitude of indoor youth and community events. Linking this all together is a new 40,000SF support building that will house locker rooms, athletic training facilities, fitness and weight room, coaches offices, administration offices, and café for public and private use.
